“Mountain Stage with Larry Groce,” the weekly, two-hour live performance radio show, is bringing its act to NPR Music.
Starting now, the 25-year-old radio program, produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting, will be distributed by National Public Radio to all NPR member stations nationally.
Additionally, the “Mountain Stage” content will join the growing list of original music programs and live concerts, covering all genres, available for free streaming on the popular NPR Music Web site, www.NPR.org/music. NPR Music will feature all new “Mountain Stage” shows.
Previously distributed by Public Radio International, “Mountain Stage” airs on more than 100 public radio stations across the country, and produces a series of specials in high definition for public television. The show also partners with NewSong to promote and support songwriters and singers in a series of regional “Mountain Stage” NewSong Festivals.
NPR Music launched in November 2007 as a free, comprehensive music discovery destination, featuring content from NPR and 12 NPR Member public radio stations, as well as original-to-NPR Music features such as live performances, studio sessions, interviews, reviews and blogs. Specific sections of the site are dedicated to rock/pop/folk, classical, jazz/blues, world and urban music.
In addition to “Mountain Stage,” NPR Music distributes the programs “From the Top,” “JazzSet,” “Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz” and “World Café,” and produces the popular new music program and podcast “All Songs Considered” and long-running celebration of opera, “World of Opera.”
