“Girl with Phone Cord” is a spray paint on canvas piece by Aowenking, one of more than a dozen artists showing at “Hansford Art House Exhibit Two” this weekend. He also showed at the house’s first show, “Beating Art,” in February.
“Untitled” is an oil on canvas by Josh Saul, one of the exhibit’s newcomers. Saul, a local blogger and one of the gazz’s former food writers, has taught visual art at the Governor’s School for the Arts for rising high school juniors.
Is there an (emerging) artist in the house?

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Artist Dane Klingaman assembles some of Charleston’s young and emerging artists Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. for “Hansford Art House Exhibit Two.”

Both evenings offer a reception, followed by music at 9 p.m. by area musicians. This second exhibit is a follow-up to Klingaman’s first showing exhibit “Beating Art” in February.

It features 14 local artists, with many of the same artists returning.

In a release for the show, Klingaman said, “It’s extremely gratifying for me to share the artmaking and exhibiting process with other artists from a hands-on perspective. It’s nice to have an alternative space designed to exhibit works that communicate concepts and issues from an emerging artist’s perspective.”
