FestivALL in Pictures and Webcams

We've loaded up (and are continuing to load up) the gazz.com with a bushel of photos gathered from what looks to be the smash success of FestivALL 2006 this past weekend. Check out what we've put on the site so far in the FestivALL Charleston gazzblog, the DowntownWV photoblog, and the WVPhotoblog which features weekly pictures shot by the Charleston Gazette photostaff.
As editor of an online multimedia magazine, I am pretty much used to digital techno-wizardry. But even I had a gee-whiz moment, sitting in my Barboursville living room at home Saturday morning about 11:10 a.m., an hour west of Charleston. I was wondering whether anyone would come out for FestivALL that morning. The TV weather people had been broadcasting the scariest weather reports -- Massive thunderstorms! Hail! Toads!! (It was a relief to learn they could be just as wrong in the summer as they are in forecasting dire winter snows that never materialize.)
So, I pop open the new Taylor Books gazzcam, which is set pretty close to real-time images of the view in front of the Capitol Street shop. The image above is what greeted me -- the heartening image, I should say. It was jammed like this around the Capitol Street stage and other venues for a lot of Friday and Saturday. Sunday's rainstorm was another matter, yet even then there were some fine highlights that day. More on that in a future post.
