I don't think I've seen it, but it looks like something that would be on the old United Fuel building at the corner of Kanwah Blvd. and Leon Sullivan Way.

Walter Martens and his son Robert, with help from Eliel Saarinen, were the architects of the United Carbon Building. This is only buiding in West Virginia that Saarinen had a role in designing.

The rounded corners set this building apart as a significant early work of the International Style of architecture.

The sculptures of the Carbon Man standing at the front corner of the building and inlaid sculptures were done by Robert Martens.

This building is one of the true gems of architecture in Charleston!
