ShopScape: A Blossom in Bloom

I suddely realized while striding down Quarrier Street this week I had never photographed full-on the fetching front of Blossom Dairy (except for a glimpse in a rather snarky photo post, that no one seemed to get, about its current neighbor, the John Raese campaign). So, here, in honor of DowntownWV's 150th photo post, is one of my personal favorite shopfronts in all of the Greater Kanawha Valley. The Blossom holds a soft spot in many a local heart, not the least for the reliability of its food these days. (Though they still have not mastered the art of factoring malt into their classic milkshakes, leaving a clumpy blobbiness at the bottom of things). Anyway, my waistline reminds me I should be drinking Perrier instead.
P.S. I was a little appalled when the city of Charleston committed tree jihad a year or so ago all along Quarrier. But the new trees -- witness this one -- are looking rather fine, no?

Carolyn and I had such great times here in the late 50's and even took our children to have ice cream in the 70's. The best milkshakes ever. Don't ever close as future generations will be at a lose.
Yes, thankfully a steady hand -- Chef Bill Sohovich and his well-trained under-chefs -- keep the Blossom, and its companion restaurant, Sohos, a reliable dining experience. Good, fresh ingredients and a clever cook and good help make for a moveable feast.
