I have yet to actually consume a meal inside Cafe Paris at the corner of Capitol and Quarrier streets, although I had a beer there once. The anxiety is akin to that felt at so-called seafood ristorantes that are landlocked and far, far from the ocean waves which the fish you are to eat call home. Can something so far from its original source-- the sea, France -- possibly be safe? At least the windows look nice and the sidewalks around Cafe Paris are kept up. One thing about Charleston: it has an attentive city maintanence squadron.
