ShopScape: A Peanut for Your Thoughts

The Peanut Shoppe hole-in-the-wall on Capitol Street, across from the downtown library, must be one of the favorite left turns (or right turns) of the mid-day office worker. Here, it is possible to escape briefly from deadlines, Excel spreadsheets and Bad Boss Syndrome. It is a form of mood elevation, via nonpareils, Swedish Fish and bridge mix.

Just to walk past this door, the smell alone brings back the awesome memories of getting treats and an orange drink as a young child. If memory serves, this is the only original store to still be in operation on Capitol St.

I believe the recently closed Gold Brick strip joint a few doors down was the other one! I love your evocation of smells. I was literally pulled via the nose into Cafe Paris the other day as they are now selling fresh breads and pastries at a small counter inside now.

The Gold Brick?????? Maybe I should have been a little more specific in my time span. I don't remember this strip joint as being there back in the 60's but then again....I wouldn't exactly be frequenting that type of establishment, either.
