No, Hoppy Shores did not slip me a bill to post this picture, a view looking west down Kanawha Boulevard at Capitol Street. (How does one get a nickname like 'Hoppy' anyway? Is this story bunny-related?) See the post below for my thoughts on the plan to reinvent the city's riverfront and alter Kanawha Boulevard. The problem is that, yes, the Boulevard is a quick ingress and egress through Charleston. But the racing traffic and four-lane breadth makes it a matter of some life-or-death concern for humans on foot or bicycle to approach the lovely waterfront. It will take some boldness of leadership and steel -- how do you say? -- cojones to pull off this reinvention. But the city must not let this plan die a death from a thousand cuts!
